Led by South Africa’s chief justice, Sandile Ngcobo, 350 justice system actors from 11 countries dedicated this past weekend to participating in a three-day Access to Justice conference. Three key resolutions, in particular, caught GJI’s attention:

  • Introducing mediation as a dispute resolution mechanism;
  • Enhancing language access in the courts; and
  • Promotiong pro bono to increase access to justice for indigent populations.
