Minor girl’s fax to collector saves her from forced wedding, Times of India (September 6, 2010).  Quick thinking saved 15-year-old schoolgirl, Muniyammal, from being forced into marriage with a 32-year-old man. Muniyammal faxed a complaint and her wedding invitation to District Collector, Arun Roy, who sent officials to intervene and stop the wedding ceremony. The bride’s parents and the groom were warned that any further attempt to force the underage girl into wedlock would be met with criminal charges.
