Court in Ohio orders asylum request reconsidered, The Associated Press (August 27, 2010). Yesterday, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) order to remove a Chinese woman who fled to the U.S. after she was kidnapped and attacked by a thug who demanded her hand in marriage as payment for her father’s debt. Her asylum claim is based on her membership in a Chinese social group subjected to forced marriage and involuntary servitude.
